New Countertops for Gulf Coast Kitchens

Countertops in League City see a lot: hot, humid summers, roughly 60 inches of rain a year, and kitchens that open onto patios and outdoor grills. We install quartz, granite, quartzite and marble countertops for kitchens, bathroom vanities and outdoor kitchens across League City and the Houston Bay Area, with the measuring, templating, fabrication and installation planned as one job and priced on one written quote.

Why quartz leads in League City

Quartz is the material most League City homeowners ask about, and search data agrees: "quartz countertops" is searched here far more often than "granite countertops". Quartz is an engineered surface of crushed stone bound with resin, so it comes in consistent colors and patterns, including marble looks, and it does not need sealing. It handles everyday kitchen work well. Its limits are heat and sun: hot pans should go on a trivet, and Caesarstone, one of the larger quartz makers, says standard indoor quartz fades and weakens under UV, which is why most quartz is sold for indoor use only.

Granite, quartzite and marble

Granite is natural stone, quarried and cut into slabs, so no two are the same. It takes heat better than quartz and, once sealed, resists most stains. HomeGuide's cost guide prices installed granite at about $80 to $150 per square foot on average, against $50 to $200 for quartz depending on grade. Quartzite is a natural metamorphic stone that often looks like marble but is much harder; it needs sealing, about once a year according to HomeGuide. Marble is the softest of the group and etches from lemon juice, vinegar and wine, so it suits homeowners who accept a lived-in patina or who want it for a vanity rather than a busy kitchen.

Rebuilding and updating after storms

About 6,000 League City houses flooded to some extent during Hurricane Harvey in 2017, according to The Galveston County Daily News, and many kitchens in the city have been rebuilt or remodeled since. When cabinets are new, countertops are templated after the cabinets are installed and level; when cabinets are original, we check them for water damage, sagging or loose frames before we template, because a stone top is only as flat as what sits under it.

Newer subdivisions, builder-grade tops

League City grew from 45,444 people in 2000 to 114,392 in 2020, per census figures cited on Wikipedia, and much of that growth went into master-planned communities such as Tuscan Lakes, Mar Bella and Bay Colony. Many of those homes came with entry-level granite or laminate, small undermount sinks and simple eased edges. Replacing builder-grade tops with a thicker quartz, a larger single-bowl sink or a waterfall island end is one of the most common upgrades we quote.

Outdoor kitchens on the coast

Outdoor counters in the Bay Area face direct sun, heavy rain and, closer to Clear Lake and Galveston Bay, salt air. Granite and outdoor-rated surfaces such as Caesarstone Outdoor or Dekton, which Cosentino says is unaffected by ultraviolet rays, hold up far better outside than standard quartz. We size overhangs, plan for water to drain off the top, and leave the right openings for grills and side burners.

Where We Work

League City is home base. From here we install countertops across the Houston Bay Area and Galveston County: Friendswood, Webster, Nassau Bay, Seabrook, Kemah and the Clear Lake area to the north and east; Dickinson, Bacliff, San Leon, Texas City, La Marque, Hitchcock and Santa Fe to the south; Pearland and Alvin to the west; and Galveston on the island. The details change from place to place. Bayfront homes in Kemah, Seabrook and Galveston put outdoor counters in salt air, older neighborhoods often have cabinets that need leveling before stone goes on, and newer master-planned subdivisions tend to have builder-grade tops ready for an upgrade. Each area page covers what matters there.

Common Questions

How much do new countertops cost in League City?

Fixr's 2026 guide puts most kitchen countertop installs at $1,400 to $5,250, about $3,000 for 35 square feet. HomeGuide lists installed quartz at $50 to $200 per square foot and granite at about $80 to $150 on average. Size, material level, edges and cutouts set the total, and we give a written price after measuring.

What are the three most popular countertops?

Quartz, granite and laminate cover most kitchens, with quartzite and marble chosen for a natural-stone look. In League City, quartz is the most searched countertop material by a wide margin, followed by granite. Laminate costs least but cannot take an undermount sink as easily and wears faster.

How much does 20 feet of granite countertop cost?

Twenty linear feet at a standard 25-inch depth is about 42 square feet. At HomeGuide's average installed granite range of $80 to $150 per square foot, that is roughly $3,300 to $6,300, before upgraded edges, extra cutouts or a backsplash. Entry-level granite can come in lower and exotic slabs higher.

What is the most common countertop thickness?

For kitchen stone and quartz, 3 cm (about 1 1/4 inches) is the most common thickness and usually needs no plywood underlayment. 2 cm (about 3/4 inch) is common on bathroom vanities and is sometimes built up at the edge to look thicker. We will tell you which thicknesses your chosen color comes in.

Can you order countertops online?

You can buy prefabricated vanity tops and some laminate online, but a stone kitchen countertop has to be cut to a template of your actual cabinets, walls and appliances. Walls are rarely perfectly square, so a top cut from a drawing often leaves gaps. That is why we measure and template at your home.

Can I use quartz for an outdoor kitchen?

Most quartz is made for indoor use. Caesarstone says UV rays cause standard quartz to fade and weaken over time, and its outdoor warranty covers only its Outdoor collection. For a League City patio, granite or a UV-stable surface such as Caesarstone Outdoor or Dekton is the safer choice.

How long does countertop replacement take?

Removing old tops and installing new ones is usually done in one day for a typical kitchen. The longer part is the time between templating and install while the slab is cut and polished, which is often one to two weeks depending on the material. We give you the install date when we template.
